Abstrak

Sistem Informasi Akademik (SIA) berfungsi sebagai mekanisme pengolahan data dan informasi yang digunakan oleh perguruan tinggi dalam mengatur serta mengelola kegiatan akademik sesuai dengan ruang lingkupnya. Sistem tersebut mempunyai kompleksitas tertentu dan karakteristik khusus dibandingkan dengan sistem informasi pada organisasi yang lainnya. Perguruan tinggi Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI) di Bandung menggunakan sistem informasi akademik sebagai salah satu layanan dan fasilitas penunjang bagi jajaran karyawan dan dosen di lingkungannya. Saat ini, masih belum cukup indikasi maupun faktor-faktor pengukuran terhadap penerimaan dan penggunaan sistem informasi dalam melakukan kegiatan akademik pada perguruan tinggi tersebut. Pada penelitian ini diusulkan Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) untuk mengukur dan menguji penggunaan sistem informasi akademik yang sebenarnya oleh karyawan dan dosen BSI di Bandung. Hasil kajian penelitian cukup ironis bahwa penilaian pengguna mengenai antarmuka sistem ternyata kurang mendukung terhadap niat penggunaan. Namun, evaluasi pengguna dari fungsionalitas sistem memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap niat penggunaan. Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi penting mengenai perilaku objektif karyawan maupun dosen untuk terlibat langsung dalam interaksi aktual dengan sistem informasi akademik yang telah diimplementasikan pada perguruan tinggi BSI di Bandung.

Abstract

Academic Information System (AIS) is a mechanism of data and information processing that used by higher education to organize and manage some academic activities according to its scope. The system contain certain complexity and special characteristics in comparison with information systems in other organizations. Higher education of Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI) in Bandung using Academic Information System as one of the supporting services and facilities for employees and lecturers in the environment. Currently, there are still not enough measurement indications or factors on the acceptance and use of information systems in conducting academic activities at that higher education. This research proposed Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to measure and test the actual use of Academic Information System by BSI employees and lecturers in Bandung. The result of this research is quite ironic that user assessments of the system interface is less supportive on behavioral intention. However, user evaluations of system functionality has a significant effect on behavioral intention. This research provides important implications regarding objective behavior of employees and lecturers to be directly involved on actual interaction with the Academic Information System that has been implemented at the higher education of BSI in Bandung.
