Lyrics of modern songs from Ambon are very unique because there are varieties of Indonesian dialect used particularly in the sounds the local people produce on some words. This tendency draws interest to find the patterns and types of changes in the phonological level of these words. This paper is using three Ambones song lyrics from the composition of Doddy Talehola, Eddy Latuharhary, and Cevin Siahailatua, the first two composers of which are from Nanaku Group from Ambon. The result of the analysis shows that the variation happens in the phonemic level are mostly due to neutralization, phonemic dropping and phonemic addition processes. The phonological changes of some words may happen due to a combination of more than one or two processes. Despite the numerous variations of sounds, yet the words, from the perspective of standard Indonesian language, are generally still clearly understood.
